LPKF ProtoLaser U4
The U4 uses a scanner-guided laser with a wavelength of 355 nm. The instrument is advertised primarily for printed circuit board (PCB) prototyping or pilot manufacture. However, the UV wavelength makes is useful for fine-scale cutting, drilling and etching of a variety of materials. The U4 can produce a PCB as large as 9 inches by 12 inches, as thick as 0.4 inches ( 229 mm x 306 mm x 10 mm). The laser spot diameter is approximately 15 µm, enabling 50 µm wide traces with 15 µm spacing on FR4 with 18 µm copper (½ ox copper).
