About this Forum:

Bringing up and maintaining QPU calibration is a complex and often time-consuming task. To streamline this process, customized automation procedures are necessary. This seminar will cover Zurich Instruments’ solution to this challenge: a customizable directed acyclic graph (DAG) framework in LabOne Q. We will highlight multiple case studies, including bringing up a new Rigetti Novera 9-qubit QPU from first cooldown through 2-qubit gates. We will also show how Rohde & Schwarz and Zurich Instruments together support the full quantum development journey – from basic research and device characterization through to large-scale quantum computer control.

What is the Forum?

The Rodgers RLE Forum is a time to appreciate and learn from examples of impactful engineering. The laboratory hosts these opportunities for engagement in support of its mission to serve as a cutting-edge hub for advancing and sharing knowledge and best practices in high-performance prototyping.

About the presenters:

Maya is an Application Scientist on the Quantum Technologies team at Zurich Instruments. She holds a Ph.D. in experimental physics and has hands-on experience in trapped-ion quantum computing, photonics, and biotechnology. Since joining ZI, her work has expanded across superconducting qubits and other emerging quantum architectures. She is passionate about supporting researchers and accelerating ambitious quantum projects.

Maren is a Sales Engineer in Boston at Rohde & Schwarz. She recently graduated from Arizona State University last spring and has been supporting MIT with Rohde & Schwarz for the last 6 months.

About Zurich Instruments, a subsidiary of Rohde & Schwarz:

Zurich Instruments develops advanced control and measurement systems for scientists and engineers working at the forefront of quantum technologies, where precise manipulation and readout of fragile quantum states are essential. The company’s hardware portfolio includes quantum computing control systems, ultra-low-noise lock-in amplifiers, and high-performance arbitrary waveform generators.

Zurich Instruments accelerates progress in quantum computing by tightly integrating real-time control, signal generation, and data acquisition within a unified platform powered by LabOne Q software. This enables synchronized, low-latency experimentation across complex setups, empowering researchers to implement advanced qubit control schemes, error correction protocols, and high-fidelity measurements.
