The lab owns a number of 1.5 GHz, 4-analog-channel oscilloscopes, with nearly all software features enables, including an internal signal generator. AWG is possible up to 200 kHz, while 20 MHz sinewave or squarewave generation is also possible.

Specializing in characterizing active devices like amplifiers, mixers, and frequency converters, this hardware includes dual internal signal sources, a signal combiner, S-parameter and noise receivers, pulse modulators and generators, internal bias tees, low phase noise capability and a set of switches and RF access points. Covers a frequency range from 10 MHz to 67 GHz.

The only VNA you’ll ever need. Unless you want to move it. Then you’ll need a friend.

The instrument is supplied with 1.85 mm connectors, cables, a comb generator e-Cal units for power and S parameters. To serve as many RLE researchers as possible, 1.85 mm to 3.5 mm connector adapters and cables are available (normally attached to the instrument), as well as a 3.5 mm eCal kit. Passive calibration kits are also available for both 1.85 mm and 3.5 mm.

HP8510C (Keysight)

Thanks to the generosity of Professor Jeff Lang, the lab has a permanent loan of an HP8510C vector network analyzer with a 20 GHz source and an S-parameter test set capable to 40 GHz.
