About this Forum:
Ming-Guang will describe an interesting engineering aspect of how QTekLaser addresses the stringent demands for high-power, highly stable, low-linewidth, quiet laser sources. Applications range from quantum technologies to bioimaging to fundamental research, such as interferometry.
What is the Forum?
The Rodgers RLE Forum is a time to appreciate and learn from examples of impactful engineering. The laboratory hosts these opportunities for engagement in support of its mission to serve as a cutting-edge hub for advancing and sharing knowledge and best practices in high-performance prototyping.
About the presenters:
Qtek Laser Co-Founder, Dr. Ming-Guang Hu, has 15 years of experience in quantum technology development with an in-depth understanding of laser markets in the quantum industry. Prior to founding Qtek Laser, Dr. Hu worked as Quantum Engineer Manager at QuEra Computing Inc. in Boston where, from 2021 to 2023, Dr. Hu assembled and led a team that designed and built their first commercial quantum computer. Dr. Hu obtained his Ph.D. in atomic-molecular-optical physics in 2015 from a Nobel-prize laboratory with Prof. Eric Cornell and Prof. Deborah Jin (JILA), and then worked as a research fellow for five years in Prof. Kang-Kuen Ni’s group at Harvard University. Dr. Hu maintains a highly rated academic record with more than 20 publications in prestigious scientific journals such as Nature and Science.
Qtek Laser Co-Founder, Dr. Zexuan Qiang, is a highly accomplished laser system developer with over 16 years of experience in the laser industry developing and manufacturing high-power fiber laser products, including 1μm, 1.55μm and 2μm single frequency lasers, high-power key passive components and nonlinear conversion using fiber lasers. Dr. Qiang was a key member of the AdValue Photonics team that was awarded 2014’s R&D 100 Award for one of the 100 most technologically significant products introduced into the marketplace that year. Dr. Qiang received his Ph.D. in Optical Engineering from Zhejiang University in 2001. Dr. Qiang has written a textbook published by China Science Press and a book chapter published by Springer and has a 15 h-index in peer-reviewed publications.
QTekLaser develops and manufactures high-performance fiber laser systems and amplifiers, primarily focused on scientific and industrial applications. They specialize in single-frequency, high-power, low-noise lasers and amplifiers, which are designed for use in quantum technologies, atomic physics, and precision optics. Their products include fiber lasers with narrow linewidths and polarization-maintaining fibers, second-harmonic generation (SHG) systems, and IoT-enabled interfaces for ease of control and monitoring.
